Audiobook Review: Friction – Legal Affairs Novel – Sawyer Bennett

Elsie’s Rating – ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Narrated by Sebastian York & Kendall Taylor

At the powerhouse law firm of Knight & Payne, winning comes first and ethics a distant second. Leary Michaels uses her female charms to daze opponents, and it’s always worked well – until now. On her most personal case yet, she finds herself going up against a defense attorney just as skilled, shameless, and seductive as she is.

Reeve Holloway has never met a woman as sure of her own sexuality, or as ruthless in wielding it, as Leary is. But he won’t be toyed with. What Leary starts, he’ll finish – in the courtroom, the bedroom, or any-damn-place he wants. The sex is uninhibited, electrifying, and absolutely against the rules. Reeve’s job is to ruin Leary’s case…even if it destroys her in the process and costs him the woman he’s come to love.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Mary’s strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Elsie’s Rating – ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This isn’t the first book that I’ve listened to by Sawyer Bennett, it’s not the first that I’ve enjoyed, but this book is in a league of its own!

Leary Michaels is a partner at a law firm that champions the little guy and she has no losses in her column. She’s relentless and her new case seeking justice for her client in a botched surgery operation is no different.

Enter big wig corporate lawyer Reeve Holloway, the defense attorney for the douche bag surgeon. When they bump into each other outside the courthouse, it’s a calculate move on Leary’s part. In the elevator, Leary hands her ripped silk stocking to Reeve, and in the courtroom, she promptly hands him his ass.

Ally McBeal

What Leary doesn’t expect is the intense attraction between herself and Reeve. Soon they began a questionable but unstoppable relationship, trying desperately to keep their private and work relationship separate. It’s hard to do when Leary, secretly has much more than a professional interest invested in the case!

This story has it all humor, heat, and heartbreak.

I listened to the audio version of this book and I loved the narration by Sebastian York but Kendall Taylor’s narration just seemed a bit too girlish. So I had to deduct a star for the performance. I would have been happier if Sebastian had narrated the whole audiobook.
